SECOND SNOW FORMATION IN THE NETHERLANDS

A day after the appearance of the first snow formation in the Dutch village of Hoeven, a second one appeared in the neighbouring field. Once again, I was notified by Roy Boschman who had been warned by Robbert van den Broeke. This time, I was actually on my way to Wiltshire which meant I only had to take a small detour to get there!

The first formation had disappeared completely under a lot of fresh snow. However, the neighbouring field presented me with something I had never seen before: an enormous pictogram in snow...

Just like the first formation, this one also consisted of rings that had been linked like a pearl necklace. The rings covered the entire field, starting at one side of the field and ending at the far end where a small tree formed the centre of the last ring. A total of 140 meters (almost 450 feet), making this the largest snow formation ever!

The photographs show footprints in the snow. These belong to Robbert, Roy and myself. When the formation was first discovered by Robbert, there were NO footprints whatsoever.

I was extra lucky as to share this experience with Roy, who turned out to be there as well, taking measurements and photographs. Afterwards, we celebrated this unprecedented event with hot chocolate in a nearby pub, after which I carried on with my journey to Wiltshire, the heart of the crop circle phenomenon, to celebrate Christmas with my loved ones...
