The mysterious lights are not only connected to the crop circles. They appear on more places, mainly on 'power places', where strong energy lines ('leylines') surround the earth. And better yet: where energy lines cross each other ('leycentres').

Sometimes they are visible to the naked eye, and sometimes they're not. Often they simply appear on photographs and video footage, because these have a larger visibility reach than the human eye. Using a flash enhances the chance of the lights becoming visible to our eyes. It seems that the flash triggers something in the lights, which makes them easier to see and shoot.
Between 1998 and 2001, Bert Janssen and I carried out flash experiments on a regular basis. We shot photographs and video footage almost non-stop, using our flash.
We did this under various conditions, mapping out several data: weather, temperature, time, position of the moon, humidity, type of camera, roll of film, ASA number, etc. We did this in order to see if we could have any effect on the appearance of the lights, and of course in order to see if these lights were normal, natural objects, such as water drops, insects, moisture particals or dust particals.
Indeed we did film and photograph dust, raindrops and insects. But they were easily recognizable and didn't show any similarity with the lights we shot (and sometimes actually saw with the naked eye).
Furthermore we carried out our experiments at various places. Our garden at that time at Gieterzandvoort (NL) turned out to be a very powerful place, containing many leylines and leycentres. We didn't manage to shoot any lights at places where these lines were not present.
Here are some examples of the lights we shot...

That same night we photographed dozens of lights during a meditation. The camera was set up on a tripod and operated with a remote control.
