My second UFO-sighting took place at the East Field at Alton Barnes (Wiltshire, UK) in 1998. At that time, this magnificent formation was lying in the East Field:
One evening in July, Bert and I were driving by the East Field on our way to Knap Hill to do a nightwatch. From the small road by the field I suddenly saw a tremendously bright light appear, hovering above the field. I grapped the binoculars and this is what I saw...
From the blinding light an object appeared. It looked like a piece of long, waving or flying cloth. It remained attached to the bright light as it was filled with air (or gas). This happened rather fast, after which the 'cloth' looked like a large, cylinder-shaped cigar. It must have been quite big, I would say approximately 100 feet in length. The 'cigar' itself was not self-luminous, but I could see it due to the bright light which shone onto the 'cigar'.
Next to the bright light I saw sphere appear, that came loose from the bright light. This sphere wasn't self-luminous either, but visible due to the shine of the bright light. The sphere seemed to be made of metal (it had a metallic shine to it).
The sighting lasted for about one or two minutes, after which the bright light suddenly went off (or dimmed). Everything had simply disappeared...
I still have no idea what it was I saw. It certainly was an unidentified flying object: literally a UFO. And it was a multiple witness event. Apart from Bert, people at the parking place of Knap Hill later told us they had seen the bright light also.
