FACTS & THEORIES

The other two researchers were notified straight away and they too simply couldn't believe their eyes. Due to their thorough field research (they drew for instance every circle in a diagram, including measurements, etc.) they all knew with absolute certainty that the ninth, small circle had not been part of the original formation. Furthermore, there were pole shots and aerials to prove that indeed the ninth circle was brand new. It must have been formed while they were in the formation!

The new circle (with a beautiful woven centre) felt very warm. Robert felt a pain in his legs and Eltjo in his hand and arm as he tried to touch the small circle. They felt a sudden urge to leave the formation at once, which they did...

This might not be a literal 'eyewitness account', since none of them actually saw it happen. They didn't see anything, they didn't hear anything and they didn't feel anything as the ninth circle went down. However, they were there at the time of 'impact', so they did witness the event itself. It reminded me of the appearance of the Juliaset at Stonehenge at broad daylight (July 1996), where nobody noticed anything either. No lights, no whirl winds, no UFOs, no people...

The snow didn't melt that winter...

It seems like this phenonemon doesn't allow us to simply label it. We still cannot give a clear-cut answer to the question how crop circles are formed, what it is for instance that we can see then. Sometimes people see lights, sometimes one sees a whirl wind, sometimes there is a thrust of air. There are also eyewitness accounts of a very local fog appearing over a field. As the mist disappeared, a brand new formation was there... And sometimes people see nothing at all. I have personally had an experience in which I saw nothing strange but heard an electrostatic crackling sound. (see "Did I ever see a crop circle being formed?").

In short: the crop circle phenomenon is utterly complex. It is not something one can simply understand and explain after a certain amount of study. The deeper one dives into this phenomenon, the less one understands, even though one does get more and more answers. This, in and of itself, is rather strange. When one carries out 'normal' study, one obtains more and more answers, thus understanding more and more whatever it is one studies. Slowly one unravels the secret. However, in the case of the crop circles, this doesn't seem to hold. The more one discovers, the less one understands. And that, my friends, is the definition of a mystery...
