One late night, as Nancy and Robbert's parents were still catching up and Robbert himself had already gone to bed, Van den Broeke senior suddenly said: "There they are again!" He quickly turned off the lights and Nancy turned around to watch the windows and the backyard. Her mouth fell open in awe as she saw many balls of light, varying in size, flying through the garden, appearing from and disappearing into the trees, the shrubs, the ground, and nowhere. Before the light show started, Nancy had felt an electrical current flowing through her body. After a while the lights disappeared, but after about a minute the show started once again, up to six times in total! Finally they disappeared for good, leaving Nancy behind utterly astounded. She later stated that she had experienced an intense sense of contact with the lights. She knew for sure that they were intelligent and that they very specifically - and with a clear goal - had manoeuvred the way they did...

What she had experienced dis not have a cut and dried explanation, which was quite confusion for Nancy, being a scientist. This phenomenon was totally unknown, and most people who had witnessed it were declared mad by their surroundings, just like had happened to Robbert van den Broeke...
