THE BIRTH OF A CROP CIRCLE - THE POWER OF THE MIND

This article was published in the Dutch magazine "Spiegelbeeld" (October 2005)

The power of the mind. Creating your own reality. Once, these concepts were mere fantasies, but today, things seem to be shifting dramatically. Quantum physics accepted this view of reality quite a while ago: you literally influence the reality that surrounds you, merely by your observation. However, the way in which this manifests in our every day life, remains unnoticed for many of us. Also, many people simply do not believe in this concept. Yet, in the summer of 2005 during my stay in the crop circles in South England, I personally experienced what it is like to create your own reality...

After a long and intense day in the fields, we decided that enough was enough and called it a day. We relaxed in the Black Horse at Cherhill, right in the heart of crop circle land. We ordered great meals and bottles of wine and celibrated life and the sheer splendor of the formations that surrounded us. It was seven of us: six Dutch researchers and long-time friends, and one American shaman. The atmosphere was joyful and happy, everyone was content and satisfied.

Suddenly, the idea was born to manifest a crop formation! And straight away, we knew what that formation should look like: it had to be a replica of the Templar cross that Bert Janssen had photographed earlier on that day in a medieval church at Marlborough:

We all took a good look at Bert's digital camera display. Never before had a Templar cross appeared in the fields of Wiltshire (or anywhere esle). If it appeared now, we would know for a fact that this was OUR formation! Joyful as we were, we focused on Bert's photo for just one or two minutes and sent it out into the void. Straight away, we continued our party and forgot all about the Templar cross...

Unmistakable
Two days later I went out at dawn to look for new formations. We had not discussed the Templar cross idea with anyone and completely forgot about it. After a while, I received a phone call from Mark Fussell of the Crop Circle Connector. A new formation had been discovered at Savernake Forest, just north of Marlborough. I rushed off and found it straight away.

Opposite the field that had already received a formation, there it was. I needed time to realise what I was standing in: this was OUR formation! This was unmistakably what we had sent out into the void.

After having spent several hours in this magnificent Gift and having enjoyed its wonderful energy, I tried to find out to what extent this really showed what we had asked for.

The first thing that jumped forward, was the cross itself: six of them in a row. Six Dutch participants in this manifestation experiment, six Templar crosses. The seventh person, Bert's American partner Heather, seemed to be represented in the floor lay of the formation: the crop had been flattened in four different directions, causing the sunlight to cast a seventh cross of dark and light patches, that seemed to embrace the six crosses. This seventh cross - the large one in the background - was also there in the original tile in the church: a thin white cross cut through the Templar cross.

Construction
Bert Janssen used his original photo to show how the Templar cross in the church of Marlborough changed into the wheat formation at Savernake Forest:

The blue parts have been stretched and placed on the outside. Other parts have been excluded.

The white templar cross is then multiplied six times and placed diagonally: the Savernake Forest formation is born.

Quantum Reality
It took me a while to grasp what had occured here. We actually and literally had manifested something with our intention! Whatever else we tried, there was no other conclusion that could be drawn here. As stated before, never before had a Templar cross appeared in a field, so the chances of this being a 'coincidence' were close to zero. Furthermore, we hadn't merely picked up something that was already in the ether, since we had concentrated on a design that Bert had photographed much earlier. In other words, the cross didn't just spontaneously come to us, we had chosen it deliberately. We had truly manifested something with our intention...

Within quantum physics, this is not a strange thing. Scientists realised decades ago that their observation influenced the outcome of their experiments, and that a light wave turns into a particle the moment it is being observed. They describe reality as a collection of endless potential possibilities (probabilities). When we dive into the deepest levels of 'quantum soup' - the most elementary level of our reality - this relaity shows us a world that seems to be more fantastic than science fiction. Atoms show us subatoms, quarks and superstrings: vibrating strings that only become reality when they are being observed. This is the realm where particles (that our entire material world consists of) are NOT particles, but an endless collection of potential possibilities. Our power lies within our observation: only when we observe, a potential particle gains right of existence. This particle then manifests, together with other particles it forms protons and neutrons, then atoms and molecules, and finally our material world: our cars, houses, and us, ourselves.

So... nothing new. Yet, the majority of humanity does not believe that this quantum mechanical world can be extended into our every day reality. They refuse to believe that what works for subatomic particles also works for you and me. According to them, somewhere in the line from subatomic particle to atom to molecule to you and me, this chain of manifestation is broken. However, nobody can indicate where that happens. Nobody can really show when - from micro to macro - this moment occurs in which our every day reality no longer is an endless oasis of potential possibilities, that we manifest by means of our intention.

Second Experiment
Back to the crop circles. A week later we did another experiment. Impressed and in awe of the success of the first experiment, we decided to try again atop the Long Barrow of West Kennett.

On a beautiful summer's night, we (a group of 2 Dutch, 2 Germans, 1 Swiss and 1 American) sat on the long barrow holding a gorgeous design for a new crop formation. We did a beautiful guided meditation. The atmosphere was not as joyful as during the first experiment. This time we were more serious and dedicated. The moment we finished the guided mediation, a large shooting star cut across the sky. A beautiful sign, we all thought...

The days passed, many more beautiful formations appeared, but not our design. What had gone wrong? The second attempt had been so much more serious and focused. During the first attempt, we had been in the pub, eating and drinking wine, not being serious at all, we were merely playing!

(Co-)Creation
Maybe that was exactly the point. Who knows? At any rate, it is not as simple as sending a request into the void and … voilà: the crop circle falls into the field. Obviously, one cannot impose one's will upon reality just like that. To consciously create your own reality is not as simple as you would like it to be. It seems that several criteria need to be met, such as for instance atmosphere, attitude, environment, intention. However, our experiments in the summer of 2005 had been of importance: the outcome showed a clear case of co-creation, if not creation. We had been the initiators of the experiment and thus of this specific formation. We had sent out the request, the Circle Makers had picked it up and carried it out: co-creation. If however one assumes that crop circles are made by our collective subconsciousness, the scenario is: we sent out and manifested: creation.

However it had worked, this was an expriment with an important outcome. Yet another step in our research. One day we will be able to literally and consciously create our own reality. We will be the gods and goddesses that we already truly are, but have forgotten. Of this, I am convinced...
