THE MESSAGE OF 2006

The crop circle season of 2006 started off slowly. Whereas, in previous years, the first formations appeared already in April, 2006 only gave away two simple circles in England in the last week of May. Subsequently, this pearl came down in June:

A beautiful continuation of the Celtic formation of 2005 that appeared only a few fields away and from which I saw a large red ball of light appear that flew right by my car during a nightwatch.

Contrary to some rumours, 2006 was most definitely not a disappointing crop circle season. The number of formations was slightly lower, but they were mainly to be found over a larger area. For instance, 2006 showed us 4 formations in Scotland. Wiltshire was still the county in which most formations came down, but there was clearly a shift. Three of the most spectaculair formations, for instance, appeared in Oxfordshire, just outside of Wiltshire.

The most striking this year was - as far as I'm concerned - not the encounters with balls of light, like last year. This summer I 'only' saw one: milky white, as big as a soccor ball. For me, the most striking was the message of the crop circles. Everything seemed to point in the direction of wormholes, interdimensional travelling, going beyond space (and time?) and - by doing so - going beyond our limited three dimensional world. Take a look at the following formations:

Exquisite formations, totally new and unprecedented designs within the crop circle phenomenon...
But the most striking development was the appearance of the following series:

The first two formations (top row) appeared in one night (July 8), not far from Oxfordshire, close to the White Horse of Uffignton: one the several white horses that were once cut into the white chalk hills of Wiltshire. Most of them are only 100 or 200 years old, but the White Horse of Uffington is several thousands of years old. Tradition has it that, originally, it was not a horse but a dragon, the pre-christian symbol of earth energy and thus the Earth Goddess. Patriarchal Christianity had no space for this Goddess, and changed the dragon into a horse...

The following photograph shows very clearly the situation of the landscape, with Dragon Hill on the foreground (quite a suitable name, don't you think?), the hill where Tolkien spent many hours while receiving inspiration for his Ring Trilogy, behind Dragon Hill the White Horse, and finally - in the background - one of the formations. This picture also gives you a clear idea of the size of the horse, which is - by the way - only recognisable as a horse from the air.

The series of four formations shown above triggered quite a lot of philosophising. The one that appeals to me most is the interpretation by my fellow researchers Bert Janssen and his partner Heather Clewett-Jachowski. In short, this is what they say.

The first crop formation (showing a remarkable similarity with the Twin Towers) has a 12-pointed star as its centre. Or, more precisely, three squares moved slightly across each other, thus forming a 12-pointed star.

Moving three squares across each other is a graphic way to show three squares on three axes, placed at right angles to each other: three squares in the direction of our three dimensional world. The square symbolises matter, the three squares together form a representation of the dense matter in which we live on Earth. However, the three squares in this formation are being exploded into our three spacial directions. Matter is being transformed, Spirit comes into being. This crop circle is an undeniable representation of Matter turning into Spirit. It tells us of the letting go of 3-D, the exceeding of our 3-dimensional limitations, and the realisation that matter is only condensed Light...

That same night, this beauty appears only a few fields away:

Some researchers call it a bird, others a dragon, and yet others recognise it as an interference pattern. Interference patterns have appeared as crop circles many times in the past. This is of great interest, bearing in mind the description of our reality by quantum physicists as interference patterns of probability waves. In other words, hard matter is basically just a collection of vibrating strings (on a subatomic level), perceived by us humans. We then (subconsciously) make a choice between an endless amount of probabilities, thus creating the reality we live in. However, I find the interpretation of this formation as a bird even more interesting: the Sacred Bird that accompanied and protected the ancient Celtic Mother Goddess Rhiannon. Legend has it that Rhiannon rode on a white horse. She ruled over life and death, over matter and Spirit. She formed a bridge between matter and Spirit. She lived in places where Heaven meets Earth. She was the guardian of portals, doorways to different dimensions. Such as Uffington? Uffington's White Horse is only about 300 meters away from this crop formation.

Then, on August 6, this formation appears, once again at Uffington:

Six imploding circles. At least, that is what Bert and Heather see in it. And I think they are right. The Circle is the symbol of Spirit. The six circles in this formation form an interference pattern of kites. The centre of the formation shows us three clear kites, or - to be more precise - three squares shown under an angle, thus forming a cube. Once again we have squares: the symbols of matter. The dense matter in which we live, matter in 3-D. This formation illustrates our reality: the implosion of Spirit into matter. The illusion of dense matter, the limitations of our perception of reality, the fall from Light to Darkness, the Fall of man, the origin of Duality...

The message of these two crop circles at Uffington gives me the chills each time I think of it: in only two crop formations, we are shown the Magnus Opus: the ultimate alchemical transformation between matter and Spirit...

Transformation of Matter into Spirit
Transformation of Spirit into Matter

Let's go back in time a bit, to July 28: twenty days before the appearance of Transformation of Matter into Spirit, and nine days before Transformation of Spirit into Matter. The following formation appears in the famous East Field at Alton Barnes, where the most majestic and significant formations appear each year:

Most visitors ignore this little formation. It is clearly a Tarot figure, therefore, it has got to be a hoax! Well, I can assure you it was not. This little formation was quite beautiful on the ground, the lay of the crop was very nice and refined, and what struck me even more was the way in which the formation was placed into the landscape. Wherever you were standing, each significant point of this crop circle turned out to be perfectly alligned with a sacred site in the landscape: the point of the staff pointed towards Woodborough Hill, the knapsack towards Tawsmead Copse, one point of the hat to the foot of Adam's Grave, the second one to Knap Hill, and the third to Golden Ball Hill: magical power spots where ley lines cross each other. This formation could only be placed in the sacred landscape in one way!

Yet another great detail is the fact that the staff of the knapsack pointed towards the foot of Woodborough Hill, the position of a man-made formation, made for commercial purposes. A Circle Makers' wink I cannot (and will not) deny...

This formation was called the Jester by many. However, this is not correct, for the Jester carries a rattler whereas the Tarot's Fool carries a knapsack. According to the Tarot, the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities, total renewal, number zero and thus a new beginning. It also represents important decisions and optimism. The Fool is both the first and the last card, alpha and omega. He reminds us of sacred things that we have either forgotten or surpressed. He recognises his own ignorance and thus becomes the wisest of all. Tarot expert, June Kaminski, describes the Fool as follows:

"The Fool represents the Negative space above the Tree of Life, the source of all things. It is the Qabalistic Zero, the Equation of the Universe, the initial and final balance of the opposites, both the father and the mother - male and female, in an abstract sort of way. The Fool is intricately linked with all 21 cards of the Major Arcana - in fact, many theorists maintain that the other Major Arcana cards are parts of the Fool's whimsical journey of self-discovery, culminating with the Number 21 World Card, bringing successful completion, accomplishment, and fulfilment. Because the Fool is trusting and open to all experiences, he provides the perfect role model as we too embark on our life journey. The Fool coaxes us to walk our own path, not the path of the "herd". To trust our own inner voice, our intuition and our inner knowing and to embark on our life course with faith and a stout heart. We need trust, faith in the goodness of life and people, and an undying belief that all will work out exactly as it should".

In his search for his spiritual Self, the Fool sits at the foot of a tree where he remains motionless for nine days. After nine days (there were nine days between the Fool and Transformation of Spirit into Matter) he rises and hangs upside down on one leg from a branch of the tree. He becomes the Tarot's Hanged Man. He completely surrenders and notices how his perception of the world starts to change. He floats between two worlds, the spiritual and the physical, and he can see both clearly. Suddenly, he sees all connections, mysteries unfold before him. The Fool is the last stage but one before the ultimate insight.

And then, on August 15, the Grand Finale comes down, the 'whopper' at the end of the season:

This symbol is recognised by many as Lamat, an ancient Maya figure. The name Lamat shows a striking similarity with Le Mat, another name for the Fool... On the website of Pan Holland, Lamat is described as a star portal, a doorway to harmony: "The wavespell of the star is a powerful period of time, for it is always the LAST wavespell of the Tzolkin round; the last 13-day cycle of the entire Tzolkin's cycle of creation." Accoring to Ariel Spilsbury and Michael Bryner of the Mayan Oracle, Lamat symbolises the Magical Child. Their poetic description starts with the following beautiful phrases: "I am Lamat, the way show-er. I expand the seeds of your consciousness beyond previous boundaries". It ends with the following words: "If you choose to follow this star-trail, you will discover that you are the player and the played in the cosmic composition of harmony".

2006 can be summarised as a grand crop circle season, with many references to wormholes, interdimensional travelling, going beyond space and time and thus going beyond our limiting three-dimensional world. It shows us that we are at the threshold of the Magnus Opus: the ultimate alchemical transformation between matter and Spirit. We are about to gain insight into the nature of reality. We will soon get access to portals to other dimensions. Portals on Power Spots such as the White Horse of Uffington, where Rhiannon watches over the doorways to other worlds and where Heaven and Earth meet and become one. Other portals are the crop circles, sacred places where dimensions meet and become one, where we get access to other worlds, not just outside ourselves but also within ourselves. The crop circles of 2006 made it very clear that we are at the treshold of a New Age, an age of harmony, oneness, and transformation. An era of ultimate Insight...
