Bent stems

This too is a way to bend and lay plants horizontally on the ground. It is the same principle as we've seen on the previous page (bent nodes): bent stems can only occur when the stem grows faster on one side than on the other. In other words: the cells are only manipulated on one side. This phenomenon is especially spectacular when it involves large, vulnerable crop, such as oil seed rape.
